If you ever have to remain in the woods for an extended period of time, it is important to know how to build a shelter to protect yourself from the elements. Luckily, if you know what you are doing, building a shelter is as easy as finding the right debris and leaves. First, find as much soft debris as possible to pad the inside of the shelter. Then, find a pole that is taller than you and prop one end up on Y-shaped sticks. Then, use sticks and debris to cover the shelter, including the entrance if needed.
- Resourcefulness is one of the most important traits of a great survivalist
- Use sticks and branches to create a roof-like ribbing along the entire length of the ridge pole.
- Place a generous amount of debris over the shelter
“Cover the entrance of your shelter with the remaining debris and leaves.”
