Every Day Carry, or EDC, is a term that applies to a wide range of items that one might find useful frequently or in an emergency and that they carry on their person several times a week. These items may be carried in the immediate clothing of the carrier or in a bag. They provide substantial aid for everyday life, and they provide security in disaster.
- There are two types of EDC: that which is carried ‘on-person’ and that which is carried somehow else, normally in a bag or pack.
- If you truly want to live a prepared lifestyle, you need to stop isolating your ‘normal EDC’ from your ‘prep/hike/at home EDC’.
- Your keychain offers myriad possibilities: a small keychain flashlight as a backup to lend to a friend who doesn’t carry their own, you can buy excellent keychain sized multitools with various levels of functionality, etc.
“It is important to keep the essentials of your life in your pockets. Your phone, keys and wallet for most people.”
